C3 - Ceilidh vs. Predator at Hole in the Wall Theater
Written by Barb G.

A bit of the "ole sod" comes to the Hole in the Wall Theater in New Britain on Saturday, February 27th, for the Third Annual Ceilidh (KEY-lee).  A group of musicians, singers, and storytellers gather for the annual Celtic music event called "C3 - Ceilidh vs. Predator: This Time it's Musical!"  Ceilidh 3 features music from across the Celtic landscape; traditional folk songs as well as modern artists like U2.  The casual atmosphere of the Hole in the Wall is more akin to sitting around in a pub than attending a formal concert.

"C3 - Ceilidh vs. Predator: This Time it's Musical!" is a fund-raising event for Hole in the Wall.  Tickets are $10.00.  The event begins at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 27th at the theater, located at 116 Main Street in New Britain.  Reservations are not required.  For more information, please call 860-614-5795.

CT Cage Match at Hole in the Wall Theater
Written by Barb G.

Hot Cocco Productions in cooperation with Hole in the Wall Theater in New Britain and Playhouse on Park in West Hartford presents the next round of the Connecticut Cage Match Series on Friday, February 26th at Hole in the Wall.

Each Cage Match features two improvisational comedy troupes duking it out in a no-holds-barred competition with the audience choosing the winner, who advances to the next round.  Free Lunch, an improv company based in Central Connecticut, is the current champ.  Formed in the fall of 2008, Free Lunch has performed at Playhouse on Park in West Hartford and the Buttonwood Tree in Middletown and has a regular gig at Plainville's Zen Bar.   Their specialty is the Harold, a classic improv form that finds the funny in a single theme based on a suggestion provided by the audience.  Group members are Frank Mohr, Kevin MacDermott, Rachel Fichman, Sue Voss, Teagan Smith, and Ted Felekey.

Sea Tea Improv, whose eight members (Summar Elguindy, Joe Leonardo, Greg Ludovici, Matt Neufeld, John Perez, Julia Pistell, Dan Russell and Kate Sidley) met through the Hartford Stage Studio training program in the summer of 2008, hopes to unseat Free Lunch.  The troupe hosts a monthly improv event at City Steam Brewery in downtown Hartford, inviting other improv troupes and their followers to participate in Hartford's only regular improv comedy show.  Sea Tea Improv has performed in front of crowds as diverse as corporate businesspeople, comedy club patrons, and children.

The winner returns to Hole in the Wall on April 30th; the final round of the season will be at Playhouse on Park on May 14th.   All Cage Matches start at 8:00 p.m. and admission is $10.00.  Seating is on a first-come, first-seated basis.  Come in from the cold for a red-hot night of comedy when Free Lunch takes on Sea Tea Improv, Friday, February 26th at Hole in the Wall Theater, 116 Main Street, New Britain.
